The Grüntenstafette is considered as one of the toughest team races in the pre-Alps and is THE highlight at the end of the sports summer in the Allgäu. A total of 230 teams, each with six participants, circle and pass every year the Grünten, a ridge that towers over Burgberg near Sonthofen. Between all the participants, there was also a sporty ambitious team from Blaichach this year, which faced the competition in a total of six different disciplines.
Benedikt Waldner (6.4 km trail running | 31:58 min), Eduard Hoffmann (7,8 km mountain sprint | 27:57 min), Gerald Krehl (3,3 km mountain running | 33:46 min), Michael Blank (2,1 km | 15:50 min), Christian Weiblen (12 km mountain bike | 33:20 min) and Benjamin Tschage (5 km road race | 22:45 min) finished the competition after just 2:46 min with an outstanding 170th place in the overall ranking. The unofficial 7th discipline, the legendary "Heroes' Party", was completed extensively and intensively together after the race - including team building.
